Why the applications go unanswered
One CV, sent a hundred times
The same file goes to a bank, an NGO and a software company. Each of them is looking for different words, and a file written for nobody in particular matches none of them. The book shows what to change for each application, and how little it actually takes.
The file is read by software first
Before a person sees it, most applications are broken into fields by a parser. The book explains what a parser does with columns, tables, headers and images, and why the design that looks best on screen often arrives at the other end as nonsense.
